[Editors Note] I Daily Drive a Dodge Dart and I remember the first time I saw Robbie's 1969 340 Dart
Swinger, I began to drool. When I asked Robbie if he would like to be Featured in MyDailyDriver.com,
he was so excited he handed me the keys and let me back it up (about 3 feet) to allow Patty to shoot
these photos. I was hoping he would just give me the pink slip...Oh well, here is Robbie's story!
I purchased the 1969 Dodge Dart Swinger 340 in February, 2001 from a gentleman in Rindge, NH. The car
is originally from Arkansas. It has factory A/C and rear defogger. When I bought the car much of the
restoration work had already been done.
The engine and transmission both have had complete rebuilds. The front end was also completely rebuilt.
The Dart has been repainted the original R4 Red color and it has all the original sheetmetal with no
rust or bondo ever. The car looked great, much more needed to be done as I am a fanatic for detail.
It had the Chrysler rallye wheels from a '70 Dart on it so after a long search I found the correct stock
wheels and the very rare correct "Mag-Style" wheelcovers. The white "bumblebee" stripe was old and
starting to peel so I had a new one put on. My son Matt repainted the engine and did an awesome job
considering he repainted it in the car! (about 15 hours work and lots of masking tape).

I purchased a set of factory exhaust tips and had a custom bent aluminized exhaust system put on. Boy,
does the car sound great!!
The biggest problem I had was the interior. It was a bucket seat with cloth interior out of a '67 Dart
and just didn't look right. One Saturday I was driving the car and I met a gentleman named Mike who is
currently restoring another 340 Dart Swinger. Not only was this a rare circumstance but he had a complete
interior in his garage that was the exact year, type, and color that I needed! He sold it to me for a
very reasonable price. Mike and I have been friends ever since. He has helped me with some other parts
as well. The only other thing I changed was the rear end. I had a 3.23 non-posi and I purchased a 3.91
from a friend Jon (August 2001 cover car) who helped me install it. It really goes now! I drive the car
whenever I can. I take it to shows and cruise nights and even to work. Some people think I'm crazy to
take it to work but I say life is too short not to enjoy it to the fullest.
So there you have it! This is one of my favorite A-Bodies! After reading this, you can
see why this Dart is absolutely Chargin' Red!
